Her parents King Fergus (Billy Connolly from Billy ConnollyвЂ™s Route 66, GulliverвЂ™s Travels) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson from Sense and Sensibility, HowardвЂ™s End) know their daughter to be impetuous but also brave and skilled as an archer so they allow her to live her own life and travel down her own chosen path as she learns about the rewards of bravery. Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Mrida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Along the way she encounters such characters as Lord Dingwall (Robbie Contrane from the Harry Potter series), and Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd from Made of Honor, Hannibal Rising). Now Merida must find a way to remove her curse and it will take bravery on her part to convince the wicked old witch to take it back. In the white-hot sun of the New Mexico desert, scientist Vera Buckley watches in fascination as a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash, sending out a shock wave that briefly stops VeraвЂ™s heart and panics her techie coworker, Alan Harris. When Merida consults with an old wise woman she advises her by granting an ill fated wish that brings on a beastly curse.
